KILAUEA POINT NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE
Outdoor Classrooms

The Kauai National Wildlife Refuge Complex provides spectacular outdoor classrooms for a wide variety of groups, including school children, university students, and Elder hostel participants. The Refuges provide educators with the perfect venue to teach about Kaua`i's unique plants and wildlife. Refuge staff will happily customize your visit to meet specific content and scheduling requirements. A collection of excellent on-site and pre- and post visit activities developed by Refuge staff and volunteers is available to educators. Most groups visit Kilauea Point first thing in the morning to experience the Refuge's incredible beauty and approachable wildlife before the Refuge is open to the general public at 10:00 a.m.. Many groups then explore the unique wetland ecology and wildlife of the Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge. The Historic Haraguchi Rice Mill also offers high quality programs on the valley's cultural and agricultural history of the Hanalei Valley.
